I’m really happy with the way they all turned out! Each book design is centered on a location and the season that it’s in. The China Pandemic is located near Seattle and that’s Mount Rainer in the background. The story begins in Autumn.
For The Cascade Preppers, we went with a winter scene on the frozen lake near the fictional town of Cascade which is really near Rockport, Washington near the Cascade Mountains. I love how Hristo captured the frozen dread of the situation.
Then for The Last Infidels, set in Hope, Canada, during the spring, we went with this scene.
And finally, for The Malefic Nation, during the summer months, set near Ross Lake in Washington State. I love the subtle summer skyline on this one.
It will take a few days for the new covers to propagate over. I hope you like them as much as I do.
You can check out more of Hristo’s work below. He really is a talented cover artist and a great to work with.
Book Two in the Surrender the Sun series is coming along. I will tell you that this one will focus more nationally and the third book will focus more globally. And, if you’re not familiar with the Maunder Minimum, please look into it. There have been several new scientific warnings that have come out recently. –Odd when the thing you write about …might just come true. Shivers
Also, the German edition of The China Pandemic, titled, Survivor, it doing fantastic. It’s stayed in the number one position of Post Apocalyptic for well over a week now. I’m so thankful to the Luzifer-Verlag publishers. They have asked for the second book, The Cascade Preppers, and it’s now in translation.
There will be another special announcement, in the next week or so concerning the Graham’s Resolution series. But for now…I’ll leave you with a few books I’ve read recently and recommend.
I wrote a blog post about this one recently. I cannot recommend this one enough. This author is VERY talented. Please give this one a try. It takes a lot to get me to weep while reading anymore…this one did.
I know Ross from The Edler Statesman. He’s also a great resource as a retired combat vet from the War in Afghanistan…and the man can write from the heart! He’s truly talented.
This is a story that tugged at my heartstrings for many reasons. Not only does it start with a child’s plight of abuse, the survival of such a life leads him to become a man with traits few are granted and equipt to deal with when confronted with the harsh world of the Perseid Collapse. I’ve not read a story like this…it’s unique.
I won’t say more and end up spoiling the story. I just encourage you to read Scavenger. You can buy the trilogy or purchase them one by one. You won’t be sorry. I was truly, blown away, and I’m certainly going to check out his other titles.
#PoweredbyIndie is the hashtag for the month of October celebrating Indie Authors.
Becoming an indie author has suited my personality well. When I began with my first series, Graham’s Resolution, I only set out to tell a story…it’s what drove me and utilizing KDP as my publisher was an easy call. There was no competing for an agent or attempt to try and charm a publisher with my prose. I simply wrote the story within me and published my work. To my surprise readers actually liked what I wrote and I kept going with the series. That was enough encouragement for me to keep going. There’s nothing better than to have readers demand the next book in the series.
There’s nothing better than to have readers demand the next book in the series. There’s also nothing like having them tell you not to kill off a character because they’ve become so emotionally vested in a fictional person or dog that you’ve created. It’s a strange new world and I think I like it.
Now with my new series, Surrender the Sun, my readers are again sinking into a world I’ve created and demanding the next book…now! I’m working on it.
This is why indie publishing is so great. You have direct contact with your readers. And they are not shy about letting you know what they liked and what they didn’t.
For now, I’m sticking with indie publishing with a huge thanks to Amazon KDP Publishing. #PoweredByIndie. If you’d like to see the titles on Amazon’s Powered by Indie features, click on the links.

After the beta readers read Surrender the Sun, I received a lot of encouraging feedback. I hope you will enjoy the first book in this new series. I plan to continue the adventures of Maeve and Bishop through this catastrophic weather encounter.
A husband’s fears become a widow’s nightmare. The death of an overprotective husband brings his widow’s world crashing down. In her quest to survive life alone she makes a discovery not only about her strengths but also about his fears. Fans of Girl on the Train, The Husband’s Secret, and Gone Girl, will like The French Wardrobe. From the best-selling author of the Graham’s Resolution series.
And here are some of the wonderful things readers are saying so far.
“A refreshing look at dealing with the loss of a loved one with a terrific whodunit plot. Don’t let the title fool you. It is filled with deep character development, moments of sheer emotional strain, pure joy, and best of all, some great unexpected turns in plot. Imagine being so totally absorbed in your life partner that life itself seems useless when they’re no longer there. The protagonist experiences this, then completely reinvents herself to begin life anew. All this with an embedded mystery that kept me turning the pages to find out whodunnit and what she does about it. Highly recommended” – Author Burt Walker
“It’s about familial love and the desire of a husband to protect his wife. I won’t say more but the ending was a total shock to me. Strength and love are a heady combination.”– Amazon Customer
“You will love what AR Shaw has done with The French Wardrobe as she steps out of her role as a master of post apocalyptic fiction to entertain us with a completely different genre. Enjoy this other creative side to her writing skills as she leads us through the twists and turns of various states of emotion, especially sadness, fear, and anger, at least for me. It’s an enjoyable ride on an exciting emotional rollercoaster.”– Amazon Customer
Right now is the best time to pick up your Kindle copy for only .99! And if you read it and love it, please, please, please, leave a review. I’m eternally grateful for good reviews.

You have a chance to actually get this book for FREE by nomination on Kindle Scout. If you have an Amazon account, that’s all it takes to vote. Just follow the links above and help this new author publish her first book.
As an author, I know what it’s like to be the new kid on the block. It’s tough. Critics come out of the woodwork. But then again, you also meet some of the greatest people who start off as fans. I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world. However, I wish someone had shown me the ropes when I started out. This is what I’ve done for M. Feliz and I’ve got to say her Finding Freya is not for the faint of heart. It’s an action-packed story. I wouldn’t back it if I didn’t believe that. She’s done a great job. I’m really proud of her.
Here is the tagline and blurb.
Your past can catch up to your future.
In a little restaurant in the town of Bandera, Texas, a woman with a rough background dared to create a life for herself away from the nightmare of her past. Unfortunately, your past can catch up with your future. Not only does she need to decide how to forgive but also to take on a new responsibility she never asked for. Will Freya Gama find the strength she needs to face her fears?
It’s happened once before, and it will happen again.
In the year 2030 the Maunder Minimum, a period of solar inactivity, will cause a mini-ice age like it did between the years 1645 and 1710. When it does, Bishop will have to save her not only from the effects of severe weather but also from man himself.
Maeve Tilton and her son Ben live alone in the rural town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Since her husband died in the war, she’s barely kept her head above water, and when the first freeze strikes in the fall, she’s completely unprepared for what lies ahead. Only a war-torn man, one who prefers the solitude of the Kootenai National Forest, can rescue her and her son.
I’m really excited about this new release. The concept of the Maunder Minimum is frightening and the more I research the more I scare myself. LOL.
Surrender The Suntakes place in a location I know very well, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I went there last winter and did a little poking around during a snowstorm. It’s a beautiful part of the country and if you ever get a chance to visit, please do. You’ll never forget it. Maybe not in the winter…it’s a summer retreat. The background picture from above is one that I took off of a high ledge. There’s a lot of camping and hiking, fishing and boating to do.
But, Surrender the Sunchanges all of that. A mini ice age that changes the world. When I say mini, I mean fifty years or so. That’s how long the last one lasted and that’s what some scientist are predicting to happen again around 2030.
I like the idea of taking real world threats and using them to create a catastrophe around. The realism catches reader’s attention and makes them think of the possibilities. I certainly hope there never is a mass plague as in Graham’s Resolution or a mini ice age in our future but the thought of such conditions makes us wonder how we could survive them. That’s a good thing in my view.
