Graham’s Resolution gets a cover update.

Surprise! The Graham’s Resolution series has completely new cover designs by a great graphic artist, Hristo Argirov Kovatliev, of Bulgaria.

I’m really happy with the way they all turned out! Each book design is centered on a location and the season that it’s in. The China Pandemic is located near Seattle and that’s Mount Rainer in the background. The story begins in Autumn.14580360_1154157487997723_903295874_n

For The Cascade Preppers, we went with a winter scene on the frozen lake near the fictional town of Cascade which is really near Rockport, Washington near the Cascade Mountains. I love how Hristo captured the frozen dread of the situation.

Then for The Last Infidels, set in Hope, Canada, during the spring, we went with this scene.

And finally, for The Malefic Nation, during the summer months, set near Ross Lake in Washington State. I love the subtle summer skyline on this one.

It will take a few days for the new covers to propagate over. I hope you like them as much as I do.

You can check out more of Hristo’s work below. He really is a talented cover artist and a great to work with.

Graham’s Resolution Goes to Germany

A year ago publisher Luzifer-Verlag reached out to me to ask for the publishing rights of the first book in Graham’s Resolution, The China Pandemic. Luzifer-Verlag is an awesome German publishing company. They’ve translated and published books for authors, Russell Blake, Ian Graham, G. Michael Hopf and many others.

They created an intriguing cover and translated the novel into German. Just a few days ago the first book in Graham’s Resolution released in Germany and has ready received its first review. Of course, in translation, I can read the reviews and hope they keep coming and are positive. So far so good.

It’s great to extend my readership into another country and to share Graham’s Resolution.

Kindle Scout Nomination Finding Freya

1 (2)

Kindle Scout nomination Finding Freya is the debut novel of M. Feliz

Author M. Feliz is a, near and dear to me, new author. Her debut novel Fatal Ties is the first book in the Finding Freya series. You have a chance to actually get this book for FREE by nomination on Kindle Scout. If you have an Amazon account, that’s all it takes to vote. Just follow the links above and help this new author publish her first book.

As an author, I know what it’s like to be the new kid on the block. It’s tough. Critics come out of the woodwork. But then again, you also meet some of the greatest people who start off as fans. I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world. However, I wish someone had shown me the ropes when I started out. This is what I’ve done for M. Feliz and I’ve got to say her Finding Freya is not for the faint of heart. It’s an action-packed story. I wouldn’t back it if I didn’t believe that. She’s done a great job. I’m really proud of her.

Here is the tagline and blurb.

Your past can catch up to your future.

In a little restaurant in the town of Bandera, Texas, a woman with a rough background dared to create a life for herself away from the nightmare of her past. Unfortunately, your past can catch up with your future. Not only does she need to decide how to forgive but also to take on a new responsibility she never asked for. Will Freya Gama find the strength she needs to face her fears?

Surrender The Sun is now on PreSale!

Surrender the Sun is now on PreSale!

What a crazy week! First, I released The French Wardrobe and then released Surrender the Sun as a Presale on Amazon.

Here is the description.

It’s happened once before, and it will happen again.

In the year 2030 the Maunder Minimum, a period of solar inactivity, will cause a mini-ice age like it did between the years 1645 and 1710. When it does, Bishop will have to save her not only from the effects of severe weather but also from man himself.

Maeve Tilton and her son Ben live alone in the rural town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Since her husband died in the war, she’s barely kept her head above water, and when the first freeze strikes in the fall, she’s completely unprepared for what lies ahead. Only a war-torn man, one who prefers the solitude of the Kootenai National Forest, can rescue her and her son.

I’m really excited about this new release. The concept of the Maunder Minimum is frightening and the more I research the more I scare myself. LOL.

Surrender The Sun takes place in a location I know very well, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I went there last winter and did a little poking around during a snowstorm. It’s a beautiful part of the country and if you ever get a chance to visit, please do. You’ll never forget it. Maybe not in the winter…it’s a summer retreat. The background picture from above is one that I took off of a high ledge. There’s a lot of camping and hiking, fishing and boating to do.

But, Surrender the Sun changes all of that. A mini ice age that changes the world. When I say mini, I mean fifty years or so. That’s how long the last one lasted and that’s what some scientist are predicting to happen again around 2030.

I like the idea of taking real world threats and using them to create a catastrophe around. The realism catches reader’s attention and makes them think of the possibilities. I certainly hope there never is a mass plague as in Graham’s Resolution or a mini ice age in our future but the thought of such conditions makes us wonder how we could survive them. That’s a good thing in my view.

French Wardrobe is Live

French Wardrobe is now live in Kindle format on Amazon as a new release!

The French Wardrobe story is sort of a mystery. It’s somewhat difficult to define the genre but that’s as close as I can get. It’s different than anything I’ve ever written and I think it’s mostly applicable to female readers though some of my more patient male readers might like it as well. Here is the brief description.

A husband’s fears become a widow’s nightmare.

The death of an overprotective husband brings his widow’s world crashing down. In her quest to survive life alone she makes a discovery not only about her strengths but also about his fears. Fans of Girl on the Train, The Husband’s Secret, and Gone Girl, will like The French Wardrobe.

Right behind this is Surrender the Sun. I’m halfway through the rough draft and intend to publish this, first in a series, as soon as possible.

I hope you enjoy The French Wardrobe and please leave a review if you did.

Thank you!

Departure from Durham Road – New Release!

Departure from Durham Road is the second novella in the mini-series based on Steven Konkoly’s Perseid Collapse Series for Kindle Worlds.

The first book in the series, Deception on Durham Road, took a secondary character, Jamie McDaniels, and developed her story into a mini-series. The first book drew fans from both the Perseid Collapse of Steven Konkoly as well as the Graham’s Resolution series by A. R. Shaw. That is why I felt the need to write a second novella in the series and I hope Departure from Durham Road fills the fan craving for more of Jamie’s character.

Departure from Durham Road was a fun deviation from my normal genre. It’s actually a mash-up of several genres. I find her intriguing as both a mother and a survivor and hope my fans will as well.

With this new release, I am now able to focus on both Surrender the Sun, a co-book I’m writing with Steven Bird as well as a stand alone I’m really excited about. Stay tuned this year – there’ree a lot of new and exciting projects underway!

Things I never thought I’d say – My Name is on a Skull

gsbd3533_web_m_white_front

It’s been a year of new things for me. I never thought I’d write a zombie story. I never thought I’d write a complete series and I never thought I’d find my name on a skull.

There are plenty of months in the year for more firsts but today I get to share this one with you. After writing a mini zombie story in the anthology, Bite-Sized Offerings, for charity the organizers also set up a t-shirt with all the authors who participated in the project with Grunt Style. The proceeds from this will also go to the medical and travel expenses for a little girl with down syndrome who needs heart surgery soon.

It’s a worthy project and you can see my name right above the right eye of the skull not far from my buddy author W. J. Lundy. So if you’re in need of a t-shirt or even a hoodie like the one above and would like to have some of your favorite authors names within the skull motif, go ahead and click the link to Grunt Style and purchase one or three.

It’s all for a good and worthy cause and these days, we depend on one another for the best of deeds.

Have a great day!

Book Review – Friction by Sandra Brown

I just finished Friction by Sandra Brown and found the novel intriguing.

It’s about a widower who’s trying to regain custody of his little girl from his in-laws when during the court hearing a masked man runs through the courtroom and aims at the judge but kills the court bailiff instead.

Soon the judge and the father, who just happens to be a Texas Ranger during his day job, try to solve the mystery of the masked man.

When I started off reading this novel, I wasn’t really expecting a romance or the tantalizing bits of bedroom drama, though there isn’t too much of it to be a problem. In short, it’s a cute story though I wasn’t sold on a judge compromising her ethics. You have to remember, this is fiction.

Here is Amazon’s description:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown comes a gripping story of family ties and forbidden attraction.

Crawford Hunt wants his daughter back. Following the death of his wife four years ago, Crawford, a Texas Ranger, fell into a downward spiral that left him relegated to deskwork and with his five-year-old daughter Georgia in the custody of her grandparents. But Crawford has cleaned up his act, met all the court imposed requirements, and now the fate of his family lies with Judge Holly Spencer.

Holly, ambitious and confident, temporarily occupies the bench of her recently deceased mentor. With an election upcoming, she must prove herself worthy of making her judgeship permanent. Every decision is high-stakes. Despite Crawford’s obvious love for his child and his commitment to being an ideal parent, Holly is wary of his checkered past. Her opinion of him is radically changed when a masked gunman barges into the courtroom during the custody hearing. Crawford reacts instinctually, saving Holly from a bullet.

But his heroism soon takes on the taint of recklessness. The cloud over him grows even darker after he uncovers a horrifying truth about the courtroom gunman and realizes that the unknown person behind the shooting remains at large . . .and a threat.

Catching the real culprit becomes a personal fight for Crawford. But pursuing the killer in his customary diehard fashion will jeopardize his chances of gaining custody of his daughter, and further compromise Judge Holly Spencer, who needs protection not only from an assassin, but from Crawford himself and the forbidden attraction between them.

FRICTION will keep you on the edge of your seat with breathtaking plot twists and the unforgettable characters that make Sandra Brown one of the world’s best-loved authors. It is an extraordinary novel about the powerful ties that bind us to the ones we love and the secrets we keep to protect them.

So, if you’re looking for a quick read with a little romance and a nice ending, here you go.

Sandra Brown delivers well-written best-sellers. Check out her website here.

The Malefic Nation is Coming! Release Sept. 12th!

It’s finally here! The last book in the Graham’s Resolution series releases this Saturday, September 12th.

I was able to move the date up and as it turns out I will be attending the Southern Preppers Expo this Saturday in Alabama. So come down and meet me if you’re in the Oxford, Alabama area; it’s FREE to attend. I won’t have a physical copy of the paperback at that time but you can download the ebook from Amazon on that day.

It’s a bittersweet completion. I certainly feel accomplished but at the same time I’m leaving characters I’ve come to love. When I set out to write my version of a postapocalyptic adventure, I never thought it would turn out this successful. I didn’t intend to write a series, but I felt once The China Pandemic was complete that there was more to their story and so I found myself writing the rest.

Now, I’m ready to move on, sorta. I’m ready to start new projects. I’ve already begun a fresh idea. I hope that you’ll enjoy this series and realize my final goal was to show what I believed the worst catastrophe to our world would result in. I think I did that after all. There will be tremendous heartache and pain and successes coupled with grief along the way.

To me, this is the realistic version. It’s what could happen… Let’s hope it never does.
